On May 2nd I saw a show at the theatre (Sept Collines). It was entitled « Toyi Toyi » and it was about life in shantytowns in South Africa. In this show there were four black people : three South Africans and one French man. All along the show the Africans talked one after the other and they related their lives in the townships when there were young. To tell this, they spoke English and at the same time they beat their arms, their legs, their knees with their hands. Moreover they hit the soil with their feet. They also screamed in a strange way. In the background we could see a shack whose walls were built with corrugated iron. After their story, the French person started speaking french. He told us that he went to South Africa and he met them there. They showed him how they were living.
